Our thoughts and prayers go out to Cowessess First Nation and Indigenous Peoples following the announcement of 751 unmarked graves on the grounds of the former Marieval Indian Residential School in Saskatchewan. May this news re-affirm our commitment to truth and reconciliation. As was shared in the Summary of the Final Report of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada “Now that we know about residential schools and their legacy, what do we do about it?”
We acknowledge that the history of residential schools is not news to us. We know of their very sad legacy.
The children who passed away in residential school will be properly honoured by our honest attempt to learn not just the story of their tragedy, but also the story of the greatness of their people who have lived on this land for thousands of years.
