November 2-6, 2020 is Treaties Recognition Week in Ontario. The London District Catholic School Board would like to acknowledge our treaty partners during this important week: Chippewas of the Thames First Nation, Munsee Delaware, and Oneida Nation of the Thames.
This week in our schools, teachers will be fulfilling the Truth and Reconciliation Commission's Call to Action for educational institutions #62(i) by sharing "age-appropriate curriculum on...Treaties." As we continue to grow as a Board, we pray to improve our relationship with our treaty neighbours and, to cite the Catholic Bishops of Canada, "We look forward to a future where systemic injustices are meaningfully addressed, where we all discover new ways of living together through which the First Peoples of this land are honoured and respected."
