“The Lord is my strength, and my shield, in whom my heart trusts”. Psalm 28:7
Every day we make choices. We can choose to be frustrated, bitter, or complacent. Or we can choose to be grateful, hopeful, or generous. Although we can’t control what circumstances or situations present themselves on any given day, our reaction to them is always our choice.
We are collectively experiencing Advent for the second time in this pandemic. Our patience and fortitude are being tested once again during the Christmas Season, with fears of the new variant making headlines wherever we turn, causing disruption, inconvenience, and angst among many of us.
We must remember that it is precisely during times like these when we feel most afraid, most uncertain, and most vulnerable, that Jesus is closest to us. In fact, our encounter with Jesus is magnified during these periods, reminding us that our journey in faith continues, providing us the strength we need for continued conversion and hope. We can become stronger, not weaker. We can become more stable and less fragile. We can become more responsible and less blameful.
It is our choice.
Jesus reminds us that a daily encounter with him is all that is needed to move forward each day, stronger and more complete than the day before. It is during these encounters that we ask for guidance and strength, reflecting on questions like:
It is through daily reflection that we build a more generous spirit and a more hopeful attitude. During this Advent season, may your encounter with Jesus help you develop a disposition of gratitude, knowing Jesus provides you the strength you need for every challenge you face.
On behalf of the Board of Trustees and members of Senior Administration of the London District Catholic School Board, we wish you and your family the peace and love of the Christmas Season. Your support this year has been greatly appreciated and valued.
Merry Christmas and continued blessings into 2022.
Sincerely,
Linda Steel, Chair of the Board of Trustees

– Pope Francis
