Wellness Wednesday: The Power of Yet

Those who believe their smarts will never change, ‘you are how you are, and you can’t change it’ tend to struggle with motivation and achievement. However, we know that statement is not true, we all have potential for growth and change. ‘There is a difference in not knowing and not knowing yet.’ – C.J. Luckey

The power of yet

Dr. Carol Dweck and her team have found that smarts can be developed. Science tells us that we can “grow our brains”. When we focus on the process that leads to learning we can see great improvements.

Try this:

As a class, group or family watch the following video that explains the concept of the Power of Yet:

C.J. Luckey (@cjluckeydope) - The Power of Yet - Official Music Video - Directed by Andre Kahmeyer (3:54) https://youtu.be/J6CnrFvY94E (recommended for those aged 12 and up)

OR:

Sesame Street: Janelle Monae - Power of Yet (2:42): https://youtu.be/XLeUvZvuvAs

Ask yourself, there is no wrong answer:

After considering the Power of Yet, think of some things that you can add the word yet to the end of and not give up on.

How does this situation feel differently since you placed the word, yet at the end?

Connecting to our faith:

I can do all things because of Christ who strengthens me. – Philippians 4:13
