We are shocked and saddened regarding the senseless act of hate and violence that took the lives of four family members on Sunday evening. We extend our deepest sympathy to the family, their friends as well as the greater Muslim community as they grieve this tragic loss.
We pray for peace and understanding, we pray for safety for the Muslim community in London, and we pray for everyone who is persecuted because of their religion.
We believe in the sacredness of all human life. We stand together with the Muslim and London community in condemning all acts of hate and violence.
We know that many members of our school communities may be feeling shock, pain and outrage. General resources are available on our website under Mental Health and Well-Being. Additional resources will be made available to schools and staff in the coming days. We will work with Muslim leaders to determine how to best support their members within our school communities.
We should heed the words of Pope Francis and pray for an end to violence and “for people to look at each other again as brothers and sisters and not as enemies.”
