The London District Catholic School Board (LDCSB) is pleased to announce the appointment of Susan Nickle as Executive Officer (Superintendent) People and Culture and General Counsel, effective August 1, 2021.
Susan succeeds Jim Vair, Superintendent of Human Resources and General Counsel, who is moving on to another position outside the LDCSB.
Susan was called to the bar as a member of the Law Society of Ontario in 2002, following her Bachelor of Arts degree from UWO in 1997 and her LL.B. from Osgoode Hall Law School in 2000. She practiced at Lerners LLP in London until 2007, when she co-founded Wortzman Nickle Professional Corporation in Toronto.
From 2013 until earlier this year, Susan was the Executive Vice President, General Counsel, Chief People and Privacy Officer with London Health Sciences Centre (LHSC), where she oversaw Human Resources, Legal Services, Risk Management, Insurance, Privacy, Medical Affairs, Corporate Communications, Government Relations, Equity and Diversity program development, and Volunteer Services.
“We are excited to have Susan join our team,” said Vince Romeo, incoming Director of Education for the LDCSB. “She is a strategic and pragmatic Human Resources and Legal executive with a demonstrated commitment to change leadership and public service. She sees the big picture and is a strong servant leader. We look forward to the passion and commitment she will bring to this role.”
“I am absolutely thrilled for this opportunity,” said Susan Nickle. “The LDCSB is a well-respected partner in the region. I hope to build on the school board’s existing strengths - including the already excellent relationships with employees - while attracting new teachers and other staff as we work together on providing a quality education for students.”
Susan’s community involvement includes Past-President and member of the Grand Theatre Operating Board of Directors (2002-20); Co-Founder, 100 Who Care London (2012-16), including Winner of the Pillar Community Innovation Award in 2014; Board Chair, Children’s Health Foundation Board of Directors (2012-13); and Founding Chair, Children’s Magical Winter Ball Signature Event (2008-10).
The LDCSB has approximately 3,000 employees and more than 22,000 students in 43 elementary and 9 secondary schools in Middlesex, Oxford and Elgin counties, including the cities of London, St. Thomas, Strathroy and Woodstock. Continuing Education for adult learners is also available.
