OCSTA President Responds to Anti-Black Racism
June 2, 2020
Recent events in the United States and Canada have surfaced voices of support and of action to address Anti-Black Racism in our society. This particular type of social injustice has been prevalent for too long and we join in solidarity with good people everywhere to strive towards the eradication of racism in all its forms.
As stewards and guardians of Catholic education, we take seriously the responsibility of nurturing in students, faith, hope, compassion and wisdom. We teach in our schools that each person is a child of God and that sacred recognition calls for love and a respect for the dignity of every human being. This understanding and this awareness is so critical at this time in our history and so important to realizing a better world for all.
